In October of 2022, the FDA announced a shortage of the ADHD medication Adderall.
Since then, the supply has remained unreliable and other ADHD medications like Vyvanse and Concerta have also fallen into a shortage.
Psychiatrists like Dr. Kirsten Thompson, founder of Remedy Psychiatry, say many people with ADHD have not been able to access their medications, which has led to debilitating effects including losing employment and failing out of school.
The FDA said they are working closely with many drug manufacturers to improve the shortage, but there is no timeline outlining when ADHD medication will become more available.
