RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — SCAN Health Plan partnered with Included LGBTQ+ Health to offer Affirm for LGBTQ+ seniors, a first-of-its-kind Medicare Advantage Plan that focuses on the special needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

Robert Guzman, a nurse for forty years, has worked for SCAN for several years and was asked to join their advisory board to help create a safe space for members identifying as LGBTQ+.

SCAN Health Plan’s President and CEO Sachin Jain says Affirm, which rolled out this October, was designed to provide the aging LGBTQ+ community with health care options that treats members with respect and dignity and address their unique needs.

According to estimates, by the year 2030, there will be seven million members of the LGBTQ+ community over the age of 50.
