LOS ANGELES — The California Endowment entered into a partnership with the U.S. Surgeon General’s office to put together a two-day summit event called Youth Mental Wellness Now!

The event was intended to create tangible, actionable ideas to address the mental health crisis among young people.

The summit is a response to a call-to-action from the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy after he released a report last December saying youth mental health is an emerging crisis exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic hardships.

Murthy is attending the conference to hear youth accounts in-person, and Gov. Gavin Newsom will allocate funding based on the findings from the summit.
