COVINA, Calif. – Clean, disinfect, and sanitize.

For the better part of the last few months, these three words have become a normal part of many people's vocabulary. But for the employees at Pink Sponge Cleaning, these have always been words to live by.

  • The service is more about disinfecting commonly touched surfaces

  • They are also helping to disinfect commercial businesses

  • Staff utilizes Lysol disinfecting spray and a UV wand light

The company, which offers various different cleaning services for homes and businesses, was meant to celebrate its official launch on April 1. Instead, the onset of the coronavirus pandemic altered their path.

While brand new, the business and its employees wanted to do something to help the surrounding community and began offering free "COVID Cleanings" to essential businesses and those classified as high-risk by the Centers for Disease Control. They are able to offer the services for free thanks to donations through a GoFundMe page.

“It has been absolutely incredible to provide a trustworthy service of trained people that understand the pandemic, who understand the fear that people have,” said their general manager, Debra Metzger. “We didn’t think it really mattered whether we’d been in business 20 years or two months. It was the right thing to do.”

Because they have the tools necessary to disinfect and sanitize, Pink Sponge is happy to offer customers the unique comfort and peace of mind that only comes through a clean home.

“We’re all human, we’re in this together," said employee, Jennifer Ahlgrim. "We have the supplies, the training, and the people willing to go out.”
