LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach City College’s Pacific Coast Campus is now a rapid assessment clinic.

Anyone can make an appointment online.

The medical mobile site for the free rapid assessment clinic is one prong of Long Beach’s response to COVID-19.

MORE CORONAVIRUS COVERAGE:

At the clinic there are two tents: One for handling people with influenza-like symptoms, and one for everything else where they can write some prescriptions.

The whole point is to take some of the pressure off of local hospitals. For that same reason there’s also a field hospital at the Long Beach Sports Arena.

The clinic is staffed by members of the Long Beach Medical Reserves Corps. These are volunteer medical professionals.

Drive through COVID-19 testing begins Tuesday. By Thursday they should have enough kits to test 100 people per day. Negative results will be sent by email; positive results will be communicated with a phone call.

The clinic will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
