SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Social distancing can’t keep Kati Morton from her audience. The Santa Monica therapist is helping the world get through a period of increased anxiety from her house where she’s recording podcasts and making YouTube videos about mental health. 

“True connection can’t really be replaced by social media,” Morton said, urging her listeners to take time to unplug.

She offers the following advice for dealing with anxiety right now while living under quarantine restrictions: 

  • Continue to engage with friends and family
  • Take action where you can – find ways to help your community by donating money, food or your time.
  • Limit the amount of time you spend online or watching the news
  • Don’t make big decisions – when your brain is in “fight or flight” mode, you don’t always make wise decisions, so don’t rush into anything too quickly right now.
