CUYAMA VALLEY, Calif. — Research published earlier this year found widespread groundwater decline around the globe, with parts of California having some of the fastest rates of decline.

Some of the state's agricultural regions, like Cuyama Valley, are now navigating how to best preserve the groundwater they have and what a future with even less might look like.
