LOS ANGELES — The Santa Anita Dam north of Arcadia is being retrofitted to meet state standards for seismic stability.
To help fund the project, the California Department of Water Resources awarded LA Public Works a $10.5 million grant.
Once the project is complete, the dam will be better equipt to protect against floods. It will also be able to store stormwater that will provide local communities with an additional 650 million gallons of water annually. That is enough to serve about 16,000 people.
