MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. — A new analysis by Oceana adds to a 2019 report by the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy, which showed ocean-based solutions could deliver 25% of the annual greenhouse gas emission reductions needed by 2050 to prevent devastating climate impacts.
Oceana adds no new offshore gas and oil to this list, which would mean that ocean-based solutions can contribute nearly 40% of the emission reductions needed to prevent the worst impacts of the climate crisis.
