LOS ANGELES — Communal housing, like the LA Eco Village, is reinventing how some live in the city to lower their carbon footprint and create a healthier planet.
“Back to communes in the 60s, it’s definitely an outgrowth of a similar kind of mindset, where we’re saying this actually worked, let’s go back to that, nuclear families are really hard, it might work for some, but you know what I need some help,” LA Eco Village resident Jessica Ruvalcaba said.
Other alternative lifestyles such as off-the-grid homes called “Earth Ships” are also gaining interest as climate change worsens.
