LOS ANGELES — A new FilmLA report charts the effect of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA work actions on third quarter film and television production in Los Angeles.
Local on-location film production declined 41.4% against 2022 levels.
The contract disputes were not the sole cause of the downward trend, as overall, on-location filming in the region has declined for seven consecutive calendar quarters.
The report was released as SAG-AFTRA contract negotiations have stalled with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, or AMPTP, following the writers’ union recently ratifying their new agreement with the AMPTP.
