LOS ANGELES — This Easter weekend, “On a Wing and a Prayer” lands on Prime Video.

Based on a true story of faith and survival, “On a Wing and a Prayer” stars Dennis Quaid and Heather Graham as Doug and Terry White. It also stars Jesse Metcalfe as Kari Sorenson.

The film follows the White family as they try to land a plane safely after their pilot unexpectedly dies mid-flight. Doug (played by Quaid) has no experience flying a twin-engine aircraft, but with the help of determined “angels” (including Metcalfe’s Sorenson), the White family must learn to believe, trust and have faith in the unseen forces that can help them land safely and avoid a tragedy.

Graham, who spoke with Spectrum News, said she met Terry White.

“She is so charming and loving. She said some really beautiful things to me about how angels were holding up the wings of the plane. She saw the movie and liked it, which made me feel really good,” said Graham.

Metcalfe said he was not able to meet the real Kari Sorenson ahead of making the film, but when talking to Spectrum News, Metcalfe said he hopes to meet him one day.

“I did a lot of research on him. I found all the interviews he did after the situation and I think I was able to gather a good idea what kind of a man he was. He was a very unassuming guy, a very unlikely hero, but the picture of him that was painted in the script was very rich,” said Metcalfe.

Metcalfe said the story is one of survival, which makes it great for the holiday weekend.

“It is very life affirming. It does have some themes of faith and redemption. It’s one of those movies that after you watch it, you want to hold your loved ones a little closer,” he said.

For Graham, she said the movie shows that “there are people out in the world that still want to help each other, and I think that is a beautiful message.”

“On a Wing and a Prayer” begins streaming on Prime Video on April 7.
