LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The ABC comedy “Abbott Elementary” topped the list of this year’s Television Critics Awards winners, taking home four of the five honors it was nominated for, including the top prize — program of the year.

The winners of the 38th annual TCA Awards were announced Saturday and included a Heritage Award for the pioneering sitcom, “I Love Lucy,” which originally aired from 1951 to 1957, but has continued in reruns ever since. It co-starred Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, William Frawley and Vivian Vance.

“Seventy-one years ago, America fell in love with “I Love Lucy,” the groundbreaking sitcom that redefined comedy & continues to influence & inspire generations of fans," the organization tweeted Saturday. “On Lucille Ball’s birthday, the TCA is proud to honor the landmark series with the Heritage Award.”

Veteran comedy actors Steve Martin and Ted Danson were honored with Career Achievement Awards.

The organization’s membership consists of more than 200 professional journalists who cover the television industry in the United States and Canada.
