LOS ANGELES (CNS) — “Morbius” opened atop the box office this weekend, taking in $39.1 million at North American theaters, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
Columbia Pictures’ vampire comic book adaptation starring Jared Leto was set to open in 2020, but endured a handful of delays because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Paramount’s adventure/romance/comedy “The Lost City,” starring Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, took second place with $14.8 million Friday through Sunday, after opening in first place last weekend, Comscore reported.
“The Batman” made $10.8 million in its fifth week in theaters for third place.
“Uncharted” was fourth, earning $3.6 million in its seventh week in theaters, followed by the anime film “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” with $1.9 million in its third week.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “RRR” ($1.6 million), “Spider-Man: No Way Home” ($1.4 million), “Dog” ($1.3 million), “X” ($1.02 million) and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” ($1.01 million).
