WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — It’s a favorite debate among film fans: what is the best holiday movie? If you need to watch a few to decide, the Melrose Rooftop Theatre has one possible solution. Starting Sunday, Dec. 5, and running through Christmas Eve, E.P. & L.P. restaurant in West Hollywood will screen a baker’s dozen of holiday classics on its roof, including:
- "Home Alone" (Dec. 5)
- "Elf" (Dec. 6 and 24)
- "Four Christmases" (Dec. 7)
- "The Grinch" (Dec. 8)
- "Trading Places" (Dec. 9)
- "Bad Santa" (Dec. 12)
- "National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation" (Dec. 13)
- "Lethal Weapon" (Dec. 15)
- "Home Alone 2" (Dec. 16)
- "Die Hard" (Dec. 20)
- "Love Actually" (Dec. 22)
- "Jingle All the Way" (Dec. 23)
The movies will be shown al fresco, with views of the Hollywood Hills — and heat lamps to keep viewers warm. The sound is provided through wireless headsets. Screenings begin at sundown, with most movies running from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
General admission is $28 per person for VIP seating, or $49 per person for a complete dinner and movie VIP package that includes a three-course tasting menu from E.P. restaurant down below. A concession stand with popcorn, candy, ice cream and cocktails will also be open.
