Harry Connick Jr. is heading back to his faith-based roots with a new album inspired by his pandemic experience.
- With the pandemic and isolation hitting Grammy and Emmy Award winner Harry Connick Jr. hard, he retreated to his home studio during the lockdown and emerged with an album of new music titled Alone With My Faith.
- He wrote and arranged all of the songs, played every instrument, and sang every part. "[I wanted] to play and maybe make some music that would be comforting to some folks. Deciding to sing some songs about faith, these were songs based on my own faith, but I hope would transfer to be of comfort to all people,” said Connick.
- Both the album cover and the first video Amazing Grace were conceived and directed by his daughter, Georgia Connick.
- Besides the familiar, traditional songs, Connick wrote and recorded new music that tells the story of his experience during the lockdown. Even though many of the songs are Christian, his hope is that they will resonate with people of all faiths, as it gives him great comfort to know that faith is an immeasurably beautiful gift that, with its universal spirit, can help bring us together in the most arduous of times.
- The 53-year-old New Orleans native is a singer, pianist, composer, actor, and television host. He has sold over 28 million albums worldwide and ranks among the top 60 best-selling male artists in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America. He has had seven top 20 U.S. albums, and 10 number-one U.S. jazz albums, earning more number-one albums than any other artist in U.S. jazz chart history. Connick said he is blessed to work in several forms of media. "Whether it’s acting on the Broadway stage, writing for Broadway, or TV or talk show, I just love to be in front of people, singing and connecting with folks. To be on a concert stage, I don’t think that will ever go away because I take such joy in performing."
