LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The Liam Neeson-starring action film The Marksman knocked Wonder Woman 1984 from its spot atop the box office this weekend, grossing $3.2 million in its opening week of release, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
Neeson's previous film, Honest Thief, also opened atop the box office, grossing $3.7 million in its first weekend in theaters in October.
Wonder Woman 1984, which spent three weeks as the nation's top-grossing film, dropped to second place with an estimated $2.6 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.
The Croods: A New Age took third place with $2 million, followed by News Of The World with $1 million and Monster Hunter with $920,000.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were Fatale ($530,000), Promising Young Woman ($430,000), The Emperor's New Groove ($169,000), The War With Grandpa ($155,563) and Pinocchio ($140,975).
Indoor movie theaters in Southern California are closed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, leaving only limited outdoor screenings.
