Gustavo Santaolalla, who is a multiple Grammy Award winning artist, has been invited to music's biggest night with another nomination.

- Gustavo is hoping to add to his trophy case, which already includes two Academy Awards, two BAFTAs, a Golden Globe, two Grammys, and 18 Latin Grammys. The very sincere 69-year-old believes music can touch the soul. "I feel like I can touch the spirit of people with the music and it can have some healing powers,” he said.
- Santaolalla won Academy Awards for Best Original Score in two consecutive years. His first was for Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and then Babel the following year. He also composed the original scores for the video games The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II . He also composed television themes for Jane the Virgin and Making a Murderer.
- The multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, and composer is recognized as one of the most highly acclaimed and prolific contemporary Argentinian musicians in the world. He recently was part of the Argentinian and Uruguayan band, Bajofondo. He collaborated with Gary Clark Jr. and Paul Williams on an original song for the Hunter S. Thompson documentary Freak Power: The Ballot or the Bomb. "That has been a trademark of my career, I have produced more than 100 albums and if there is one characteristic, is that the diversity of what I’ve done, I've never liked to sort of stay in a comfort zone. I always challenge myself,” said Santaolalla.
- In 2015, Santaolalla was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2019, Eric Clapton invited Santaolalla to participate at his Crossroads event in Texas. He also played in the last song of the event on with Clapton, Gary Clark Jr, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Jimmie Vaughan, James Bay, and others.
- Bajofondo has won several honors this year including a Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album nomination for the 63rd Grammys. The nomination recognizes the artistry found on their fourth album Aura.
