LOS ANGELES – With the recent passing of R&B legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bill Withers, artists around the world are reflecting upon his legacy and impact. That impact runs deep for Grammy nominated singer and actor, MAJOR.
“Bill Withers inspired me because of his tone, his message, and his simplicity. A true artist can take all of those three elements and make magic. Bill Withers represented magic. Timeless, classic, magic,” said MAJOR.

And that magic is what MAJOR. hopes to keep alive through his own creativity. As he too in in quarantine, he is currently writing music that carries an uplifting spirit, much like Withers did.
“In honor of a legacy like Bill Withers, I am writing at this time. Just before this outbreak, I started writing some music that had a message specifically to infuse hope back into the land. And sure enough, we are in a crisis that really could use nothing greater than hope.”
Last year MAJOR. chose to pay tribute to Bill Withers at Black Music Honors, not knowing that the music icon would pass just one year later.
“’Lean on me’ and during these times, that lean on me, is the necessary anthem for these times right now. While we are in quarantine, while we are isolated in our homes. Reaching out to one another. Being available, being a present help to one another.”
And it’s that message of sacrificial love that MAJOR. says will live forever.
