After more than three years on the back burner, monthly federal student loan payments will finally resume 60 days after June 30 — and one in five borrowers could struggle when that happens, according to a new analysis from the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Betsy Mayotte, president of The Institute of Student Loan Advisors, joined "Your Morning" to discuss the implications.

TISLA has received a $50,000 grant from the Rose Foundation for Communities and the Environment to support its proactive education to student loan consumers at a time they will need it most. With the funding, over a two-year period, TISLA — in conjunction with the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation — will hold five free webinars annually for California residents beginning next month.

The first webinar, "Understanding the One-Time IDR Adjustment," will be held on July 12. Register in advance here.
