UPLAND, Calif. — For just one weekend each holiday season, a community in the Inland Empire is transported back in time to the 16th century by way of the Pacific Community Center — otherwise known as the castle of the shire.

Upland High School’s choir students dress in Elizabethan garb, speak in Shakespearean English and serenade their audience with beautifully sung holiday carols. Behind the magic is the school’s choir director, Roger Estrada, who has been at the helm of the event for the last 20 years. Tickets can be purchased here.
