LOS ANGELES — The “Chaparral and Interstates” concert is part of the California Festival, a statewide festival featuring works by composers composed within the last five years.
For their “Sketches of Chaparral,” composer M.A. Tiesenga created a unique graphic score that emerged out of pen and ink sketch inspired by California’s chaparral landscape and works with the composer’s interest in topography and cartography.
For “Eden Interstates,” composer Samuel Adams uses the Walt Disney Concert Hall’s pipe organ combined brass, electric guitars and synthesizer.
“Chaparral and Interstates” is presented by the LA Phil under its Green Umbrella series.
