LOS ANGELES — Filmmaker explorer James Cameron (“The Abyss,” “Avatar,” “Titanic”) made history in 2012 with the first solo dive to Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench in the Deep Sea Challenger submarine.

Cameron, whose film work has led to developments in deep sea diving technology, also consulted on the design of the Deep Sea Challenger submarine.

Now on show at the Natural History Museum is “Pressure: James Cameron Into the Abyss” where visitors can see the Deep Sea Challenger and learn more about the challenges of deep sea exploration.

The exhibition works with LA Underwater, also at the NHM, which explores the underwater realm of ancient Los Angeles when much of the area was submerged beneath the waves of the prehistoric Pacific Ocean.
