Meet the team that will represent Ohio in the “Spectrum News Challenge.”

Makeda

High school: Cristo Rey High School

Accomplishments: Makeda is part of the Spanish National Honor Society, in the school’s photography club and loves her honor’s physics class.

Fun fact: Makeda dreams of working for the United Nations one day.

Rebeca

High school: Cristo Rey High School

Accomplishments: Rebeca is on the student council, captain of her soccer team and is a part of UNICEF and the podcast team.

Fun fact: Rebeca volunteers with Proyecto Mariposas, a nonprofit for mothers and daughters to empower women.

Iceyy

High school: Cristo Rey High School

Accomplishments: Iceyy is part of her school’s student advisory committee, a member of the social justice and activism club and has volunteered more than 120 hours to give back to her community.

Fun fact: Iceyy has a goal of becoming a pediatrician and was selected this year to represent Ohio youth in a medical program at Johns Hopkins University.
