LOS ANGELES — Sen. Alex Padilla and Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, will be among the scheduled speakers Thursday at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which will be highlighted by Vice President Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech.
The speech by Padilla, D-California, is scheduled Thursday between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, while Lieu’s is for shortly after 4 p.m., according to convention organizers.
Free watch parties for convention’s final night will be held in Boyle Heights and Leimert Park.
The grassroots organization Latinos con Harris-Walz will hold its watch party at Distrito Catorce, 1837 E. First St. in Boyle Heights, from 4-9 p.m. The party’s co-hosts are Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo, D-Los Angeles, TV and radio host Rocsi Diaz and actress Chrissie Fit.

Women’s March Action, an organization dedicated to electing women to public office, will host a Latinos Con Kamala DNC Watch Party beginning at 4 p.m. nearby at 1862 E. First St.
OFA-LA for Harris will hold a watch party at Ora Restaurant at 4331 Degnan Blvd. in Leimert Park from 5-8 p.m.
The group is led by alumni of Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns.
“The interest and energy in the community has been extraordinary,” Sandi Cook, event organizer, said in a statement. “I haven’t seen anything like this since 2008. The Obamas’ speeches on Tuesday night have reinvigorated that since unrivaled energy.”
Harris is set to speak at about 7:45 p.m. PDT, according to her staff.
