LOS ANGELES (CNS) — The mayors of the nation’s four largest cities, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, are scheduled to participate in a fireside chat at the National Urban League’s Conference in Houston Friday.

Bass, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will address “the state of emergency for civil and human rights,” according to officials with the civil rights and urban advocacy organization.

The chat is scheduled to begin at 7:05 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time and will be streamed at conference.iamempowered.com/houston-2023.

Following the chat, Bass will join Turner in a tour of the Housing Navigation Center to see how Houston is approaching homelessness, an aide said.

Bass is scheduled to return to Los Angeles Friday afternoon.

The trip is Bass’ first out of California since July 15-18 when she went to New York City to attend the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, which educates new mayors and senior city officials.
