WASHINGTON — Senators voted against the call for witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, with two GOP Senators voting alongside Democrats, resulting in a 49-51 vote.
Soon, Senators will take up the vote on the acquittal of President Donald Trump, on two charges: Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress.

Two Californians, a father, and daughter experienced the Senate trial a lot closer than home. They flew into the nation’s capital and planned to take a tour with Democratic California Congressman Brad Sherman.
Loan-Anh Truong and her dad happily waited a few minutes to meet their San Fernando Valley congressman for the first time but said there was another sort of excitement in the air.
“I think this is such a momentous time,” said Loan-Anh. “Definitely one that’s going to go down in the histories.”
Loan-Anh knows it’s a big week, one in which U.S. senators will soon cast their vote on whether or not to remove the President of the United States from the Oval Office, for only the third time in American history.
She planned this trip for her and her dad in December and never imagined it would fall on such a significant week.
“I feel very lucky to be here,” said Loan-Anh. “Very blessed that we came coincidentally on such a perfect week.”
Loan-Anh and her dad are close, and do a lot together, like follow politics, but she says this trip is something a little more special.
“In the morning he just wakes up and he watches the news and it’s always about what's happening in the world of politics, and so it’s amazing to be able to stand here and soak in the moment with him,” said Loan-Anh.
