Kim Passoth was born in Pomona, raised in Upland, and proud to be from the Inland Empire. She graduated summa cum laude from UCLA (go Bruins!). Kim’s career has taken her all over the country (from Montana to Texas to Oklahoma to Atlanta). Whenever she came home to SoCal, her first stop was always In-N-Out for a cheeseburger with onions and animal fries.

Kim is excited to now cover the area where she grew up. During the deadly 2003 wildfires, her family was forced to evacuate their home. That’s when she recognized the dire need for 24-hour local news coverage. During her coverage of a deadly Oklahoma wildfire, Kim kept her own experience in mind and led non-stop coverage from day through the night from the front line. Kim’s reporting helped earn her station an Edward R. Murrow Award.

Kim spends her off-time soaking in the sun and enjoying all that California has to offer from the beach to the mountains. Her favorite spots are Catalina Island and Mt. Badly. She completed two half-marathons within the last year so you will often see her hitting the streets with her three rescue pups Summer, Shiloh, and Cheyenne.
