A California resident since she was 2 years old, Alex Cohen knows the ins and outs of Los Angeles. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley and now proudly calls Northeast LA her home.

Alex began her journalism career as a radio producer and director at NPR and went on to serve as a reporter and host on shows such as “Marketplace,” “Day to Day,” “Take Two,” and “Weekend America.” She joined Spectrum News 1 SoCal when the network launched as one of the anchors of “Your Morning” and the founding host of “Inside the Issues.” Along with Pomona College Professor Sara Sadhwani, Alex hosts the weekly “Inside the Issues: The Podcast,” a must-listen for political junkies! This veteran reporter won an Emmy, the Golden Mike Award for Best Live Coverage of a News Story, and the LA Press Club Award for Best Anchor, to name a few.

For several years, she played roller derby with the LA Derby Dolls under the name Axles of Evil. Axles served as the trainer and choreographer for the 2008 Drew Barrymore film “Whip It!” and co-authored the book “Down and Derby: The Insider’s Guide to Roller Derby.” Alex is also the mother of two kids and an avid rock climber.
