JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – All evacuations have been lifted for the 1,000 residents who were evacuated earlier due to a 300-acre fire in Jurupa Valley on Thursday.

Three residential structures and two outbuildings have been destroyed. The fire, which has been named the 46 Fire, is currently 70 percent contained.

Fire officials urge residents to use caution and be mindful of firefighters working in the area when returning to their homes.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, police were pursuing a suspect who drove onto a field in the 4800 block of Crestmore Avenue just after midnight. The suspect's car then caught on fire, which ignited the field and started the 46 Fire. The suspect was taken into custody and transferred to Riverside Police custody.

  • Granite Hill Elementary School

Winds gusts are up to 60 mph hindering crews trying to battle the fire. Most of Southern California is under a Red Flag Warning until 11 p.m. Thursday night. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has granted the State of California funds to fight the 46 Fire in Riverside County.
