CANOGA PARK, Calif. – Ever Since Donald Trump became president, Kevin Arbouet has been looking for ways to cheer up his 8-year-old daughter, Alyssa.

The night of the 2016 presidential election hit Alyssa particularly hard.

"It got really quiet inside of our house and as I put our kids to bed, Alyssa started crying,” Arbouet said.

So Arbouet decided to jump-start Alyssa’s old YouTube channel as way to keep her mind off the hatred and the rhetoric.

This time, they are shooting a video on how to bake Arbouet's secret chocolate chip cookie recipe, which includes flour, eggs, and a whole lot of sugar.

“Doing the YouTube channel is kind of like an escape,” Arbouet said. "It’s like something fun that we can do together."

Arbouet, a filmmaker and father of three from Canoga Park, said he is still undecided. But he is leaning toward Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former Vice President Joe Biden.

"Both of those candidates express the values that we need right now,” Arbouet said.

His number one issue is healthcare. But what he really wants to see from the candidates is a pinch of civility.

“The infighting, the bickering, it’s disappointing and nobody likes it,” Arbouet said.

For Arbouet, the choice will come down to a candidate with more than just half-baked ideas or cookie cutter soundbites.
