It may not measure up to some of the city’s most famous architectural wonders, but this Gingerbread house sure is attracting a lot of attention.

That's because this Gingerbread house, located on the southern end of Madison Square Park in Flatiron, is built to scale. The house is being presented by Taste of Home, the food magazine and website.

This is the fifth year it has been placed in the park, and even though it looks delicious, it is not really made from Gingerbread.

Taste of Home Executive Brand Director Joe Losardo says that’s because it wouldn’t survive the elements and furry residents of the park. “It is not all real Gingerbread,” Losardo says. “We do have to be mindful of the squirrels and being out in the park for two weeks.”

But there are some real treats on the exterior, including checkerboard tiles made with more than 500 pounds of real candy canes and a gummy bear wreath on the door.

For the first time, visitors can see inside the house through windows, where there is a Gingerbread village called Gingerbread America. It includes yummy models of iconic structures like the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge, plus a model train carrying a load of sweet goodies.

It was crafted by Brooklyn-based cookie makers Tiny Kitchen Treats. Months of planning goes into designing the house, which takes around 72 hours to construct. It will be in the park through December 19.
