LOS ANGELES — After years of deferments, the Los Angeles Housing Department said rent owed from March 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021 must be repaid on Aug. 1 2023.

Tenants were able to defer rent payments because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Keep LA Housed coalition held a rally calling on the city to prevent evictions despite changes to rent policy.
