RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Vickery family is one of those loaning out their motorhome as part of the RVs for MDs program. A Facebook group has now connected more than 1,300 RV or motorhome owners with medical professionals on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, who are looking to isolate and keep their families protected.

For the Vickerys, giving back like this is connected to their faith.

What You Need To Know

  • Family is lending their RV to ICU nurse

  • They connected through Facebook group RVs 4 MDs

  • ICU nurse has family at home he wants to protect

  • CDC estimates 9,300 health care workers have caught the virus

“Faith is what kind of gets you through a crisis,” said Michael Vickery, 56.

The family has also given away toilet paper in their neighborhood, as well as making and donating masks.

Guil Ceralde, an ICU nurse for 20 years and his wife who suffers from COPD, will be the beneficiary of their generosity.

“I’m speechless with this gratitude and kindness during this time,” said Ceralde. He recently found out that 10 of his former New Jersey coworkers have come down with COVID-19 and one has died.

The CDC estimates that around 9,300 healthcare workers have contracted coronavirus, and 27 have died, in part due to a lack of PPE. Ceralde doesn’t want to take any chances. He has two kids and his wife is considered high risk.

“When I go home to my kid and my wife, I don’t know, am I still safe? That’s a big question mark,” Ceralde said

He’s been sleeping in a separate room, isolating himself at home as much as possible.

But the motor home will give him the space he needs to have peace of mind when it comes to his family’s safety.

On their garage door, the Ceralde kids have put up a poster thanking RVs 4 MDs and the Vickery family.
