PASADENA (CNS) — “General Hospital” won its 15th outstanding drama series Daytime Emmy Award during the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, extending its record, while “Jeopardy!” won for outstanding game show for the third consecutive year and 19th time overall, also extending a record.
Mishael Morgan of “The Young and the Restless” won for outstanding actress in a daytime drama, beating out Marci Miller and Arianne Zucker of “Days of Our Lives” and Cynthia Watros and Laura Wright of “General Hospital.”
John McCook of “The Bold and the Beautiful” won for outstanding actor in a daytime drama, besting Peter Bergman and Jason Thompson of “The Young and the Restless” and Eric Martsolf and James Reynolds of “Days of Our Lives.”
Steve Harvey for “Family Feud” won for outstanding game show host.
Friday’s event at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium marked a return to an in-person ceremony after two years of interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner of “Entertainment Tonight” served as hosts.
During the show, John Aniston — father of Jennifer Aniston — received a lifetime achievement award recognizing his nearly four-decade run on “Days of Our Lives.”
The bulk of the Daytime Emmy honors were presented last week during the Creative Arts & Lifestyle Ceremony.
