LOS ANGELES (CNS) — "Free Guy" opened with $28.4 million this weekend to lead all films at the North American box office, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

The action film — which is playing exclusively in theaters — stars Ryan Reynolds as a video game character, and Reynolds tweeted Saturday that Disney has already requested a sequel. Disney owns 20th Century Studios, which released "Free Guy."

"Don't Breathe 2," a sequel to the 2016 home invasion thriller, opened in second place with $10.6 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.

Disney's "Jungle Cruise" was third with $9 million in its third weekend of release.

"Respect," the Aretha Franklin biopic starring Jennifer Hudson, opened with $8.8 million to take fourth place.

"The Suicide Squad," last week's top-grossing film, fell sharply in its second week, taking in $7.7 million for fifth place. It is also streaming on HBO Max.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were "Old" ($2.4 million), "Black Widow" ($2 million), "Stillwater" ($1.3 million), "The Green Knight" ($1.16 million) and "Space Jam: A New Legacy" ($1.11 million).
