It's a very different telling of fairy godmothers than most remember in Snow White and Cinderella, but Disney modernizes the classic tale in a new comedy called Godmothered.
Five Things You Need to Know:
- Isla Fisher, Jillian Bell and Jillian Spaeder co-star in this comedy about an unskilled and optimistically eager fairy who tries to prove her worth by tracking down a little girl who wrote a letter years earlier.
- Fisher is married to Sasha Baron Cohen and is best known for her performance in Wedding Crashers. Unlike her character in this new project, Fisher sees herself as a positive person, telling us: "I’m realistic, I would say I can be like, I can overly worry about stuff, but I am so grateful my life is so blessed. Even with my career, I never dreamed I would be working with these talented woman like this, on a Disney movie. The fact that I’m still working it’s fantastic."
- Jillian Bell is a comedian, actress, and screenwriter. She starred in the 2019 film, Brittany Runs a Marathon and played Jillian Belk on Workaholics, as well as having a recurring role as Dixie on the final season of Eastbound & Down. Bell is a glass half full girl, telling us: "It feels slightly easier to believe that people are good and they want good things, but maybe that’s beside me, I’m an optimistic jerk."
- Rachel Portman composed and produced the score for the film. Jillian Shea Spaeder performed two songs for the film's end credits, titled "Rise Up (Joy to the World)" and "Hero."
- When it comes to believing in fairy godmothers, Spaeder says: "I think we all grew up writing them, I don’t know about you guys, but I spent all day yesterday writing, thousands of letters to every fairy godmother around the world."
