PALMDALE, Calif. — When it comes to the American Dream, different people have different ideas, but according to Financial Tech company Smart Asset, it seems that the city of Palmdale is pretty high up on the list
The list is nationwide and only two California cities made the top 20 cut, San Jose, listed 12th, and Palmdale, listed as number 10.
From their survey:
Closing out our top 10 comes the city with the best diversity score in the top 10. Of course when it comes to achieving the American Dream, diversity in the population able to reach the dream is key. However, despite having the most diverse population, Palmdale couldn’t quite compete in the other metrics. It had both the lowest mobility score (43.3) and the highest unemployment rate (4.8%) of the top 10 cities. Palmdale’s 65.6% homeownership rate ranked fifth in the top 10.
The company relied on a number of different categories, including diversity, economic mobility, home values and the unemployment rate for its decision making Palmdale the highest California city recognized on the list.
