Columbus, OH – The CEOs of Etsy, Sonder, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and JPMorgan Chase & Co. told a room full of students and entrepreneurs at Columbus State Community College to find their passions in business Thursday.

Jeni Britton Bauer, the founder and Chief Brand Officer of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams discussed her passions while attending Ohio State University and how those passions led her to build her business.

  • CEOs met with college students
  • Students and entrepreneurs told to find their passion in business
  • Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions of the CEOs

“I'm in this creative time, looking for what I should actually do because everybody is asking me, 'But what are you going to do to make money in your life?' And so I'm trying to figure that out. Maybe I'll be a pastry chef. Maybe I should be a perfumer because I don't know anybody who is a perfumer. I like making art. I like moving around. I don't like sitting around, so those kind of crossed over for me in my life when I decided to make a scented ice cream, which is a strange thing to think, but I was going to a party and I was like, I can use ice cream as a carrier of scent,” she said.

Bauer mentioned a few new flavors that could be on their way including Fluffer Nutter.

Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan Chase discussed the importance of partnerships between business and government and how they are key to developing the workforce and growing the economy.

“I think we have to be involved. Government cannot do it alone and that's not a criticism of government,” he said. “The Columbus government has been great. Working with civic society; think of this school, this community college. That is how you are going to fix the problem.”

The event was put on by Axios. Co-founder Mike Allen moderated the event. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions and get their own professional headshot.
