NATIONWIDE -- Roseanne Conner's fate seems to be sealed.

  • Roseanne's character likely to be killed off in spinoff
  • John Goodman hinted at the character's fate during an interview
  • "The Conners" is set to debut this fall

In June, ABC announced it would be moving forward with a "Roseanne" spinoff without Roseanne Barr following the show's abrupt cancellation.

Many have wondered how the new series, titled "The Conners," would handle her absence.

Barr's co-star and on-screen husband John Goodman recently offered some insight.

Speaking with the U.K.'s The Sunday Times, Goodman hinted that Barr's character will be killed off.

"I guess he'll be mopey and sad because his wife's dead," Goodman said.

ABC hasn't shared how the show will handle Barr's departure.

The network canceled "Roseanne" in May after a racist tweet Barr made about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, calling her the offspring of the "Muslim brotherhood & Planet of the Apes."

Barr defended her tweet amid backlash, saying it wasn't racist.

"Roseanne" was revived by ABC and premiered in March, becoming a rating success.

Barr agreed to sign over her rights to the show in order for the spinoff to move forward.

"The Connors" is set to premiere Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
