Columbus, OH -- On Thursday, a winter storm coated southwest Ohio with a glaze of ice that snapped trees, brought down power lines and made travel treacherous. The same storm brought Columbus it's first 1" snowfall of the season. Seeing ice, rain and snow within 12 hours made it seem more like Christmas than the week before Thanksgiving. But, there are signs things are getting better for us as we close out November.

  • Wednesday is one of the busiest travel days of the year. This year will be great for driving with dry roads.

Nothing is worse than driving with millions of others on the road when the weather is icy or snowy. This year should be smooth sailing with sunshine expected on Wednesday and average afternoon highs in the middle and upper 40s. We can't help you with the traffic jams, but at least it will be dry and sunny!

  • It has been cool this November but as we see more average highs next week, it will feel mild!

Thanksgiving Day forecast right now (we'll keep watching for any changes) looks fantastic! Don't worry about your guests crowding the kitchen while you're mashing potatoes or basting the turkey. Get everyone outside for a football game to enjoy the sunshine and highs close to 50°. Again, these temperatures are average for this time of year, we've been stuck in a chilly mode for November so far.

  • Black Friday shopping-You might want to spend some time outside between getting those deals!

The sunny, dry weather should linger through Friday. This would be the PERFECT day for outdoor holiday decorating. We are still seeing sunshine with highs near 50°.
