WORCESTER, Mass. - A group of Worcester students are getting involved in a statewide art contest with a positive message to get across.

Eighth grade students Aeria Kodra, Elizabeth Anzalone and Ella Medveczky were determined to have created the best "peace posters" out of 126 local entries submitted from five Worcester schools in the annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

Their winning posters were selected by the Worcester Lions Club based on originality, artistic merit and the contest’s theme, ‘peace without limits’.

Their posters will now move on to the next level of competition, which will be among all 45 Lions Clubs in Central Massachusetts.

Kristen Keane, the contest’s lead for the Worcester Lions Club, said Worcester students showcased their talents in this competition.

“It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them,” Keane said. “I’m so proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions.”

Should any of the three students advance beyond the next round of competition, they will have a chance at eventually being part of an international competition.

All 126 poster entries will be on display at the Worcester PopUp at the JMAC until Nov. 24.
