SHREWSBURY, Mass. - John Ginnity was recently named the new head coach of the St. John's High School basketball team. He steps in for a legend, Bob Foley, who retired as the winningest coach in state history.

Ginnity who went to St. Bernard's in Fitchburg and played hoop there and later at Clark University, is excited about continuing the tradition and honored to follow Coach Foley.

"Yeah, [I am] extremely excited to be part of the St. John's High School community [and] basketball program," said Ginnity. "Obviously, I know the rich tradition and history having grown up in Central Mass. It's a privilege and an honor to now be a part of it. There's no doubt that Coach Foley set the standard for everyone across the state and New England. So we want to do some things a little bit different. But really, the main thing we want to keep the same [is that] you don't win a thousand games and then have someone come in and flip it completely upside down and do everything different."
