WORCESTER, Mass. - Young people in Worcester are taking a stand against gun violence.
The city's youth center hosted "Violence is Not Normal" on Saturday, hoping to raise the awareness about the impact of gun violence.
The youth center says in Massachusetts, guns are responsible for three out of four youth homicides, describing it as an urgent public health issue.
Saturday's event featured live music and entertainment and was centered around two anti-violence videos produced by young kids in the city.
"If we can save one life, if we can make one family more aware, if we can help people learn, then we've done our job," community advocate Bill Coleman said. "But for the countless years I've been doing it, it's not if it's going to happen again; it's when it's going to happen."
The Worcester Youth Center says every person, neighborhood, and community deserves to live violence-free.
