PITTSFIELD, Mass. - A new campaign aims to promote good recycling habits in the city of Pittsfield.
“Pittsfield Recycles – the Right Way” kicked off on Monday and will run through early August.
During the summer, the city will post a series of helpful tips and resources regarding recycling.
The campaign will also feature three billboards throughout the city, a wrap on a BRTA bus, and postcards, which will be available at local establishments.
Pittsfield public utilities commissioner Ricardo Morales said his goal is to reduce contamination in the recycling stream, and double the rate of recycling in the city.
“We had a sharp increase in waste generation over the pandemic, throughout 2020," Morales said. "But then, we didn’t see an increase in recycling. So we had an increase there, not an increase in recycling. So we need to step up our game in recycling.”
