WORCESTER, Mass. - A Worcester laboratory is providing same day COVID-19 test results, and in a pandemic, Director Hari Nair says it’s important.

Nyla Laboratories is a startup based at the Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives.

The lab recently received certification to open for COVID-19 diagnostic testing.

“Going forward what we want to do is be the lab in and around Worcester and Metro West where physicians can get test results for infectious disease the same day," Nari said. "Our team is really local and same day."

COVID-19 nasal swab tests are conducted offsite and the results are analyzed at Nyla. Nair says results are available within four to 24 hours.

The lab also processes same day test results for other infectious diseases.
