The days of limited career choices are being thrown out the window.

  • The program includes mentors
  • Conferences are often free for students to attend
  • The conference has grown from about 100 people to 300

More than 300 women and men packed the C2 Event Centre for the Girls in Technology conference to make sure female students know they have a support system in place to turn dreams of jobs like coding into a reality.

"I"ve never seen this much women in technology in one place before truly and we got more more traffic at our booth than I have this whole year and that's really encouraging because they are all women who are very excited about the technology industry and futhering that. So I am going to go home and follow up with all these women," Brittany Ullery said.

She works as an technical recruiter with Waystar and wishes events like this would have been more readily available to her but says most importantly she just never gave up.

Which was the same message of enouragement she made sure to passon on today.

And a  lot of powerful and well known companies that make sure women are front and center filled the room like USAA bank, Papa John's, and New Age Technologies.

Many students spent the day collecting business cards, hearing guest speakers, and even got in on the chance to get a professional headshot.

"That women are excited about technology and they are excited abou furthering their education whether that be a traditional or alternative method and that there are just really excited to help people and help the world really is what I've taken from today," Ullery said.

This is second year for the girls in technology conference which is planned for the same day in 2019.
