Taylor, 26, was shot and killed March 13, 2020. She and her boyfriend were asleep in their apartment.

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) executed a no-knock warrant at their address. Shots were fired that ultimately led to Taylor’s death, which sparked national protests over police brutality. The protests in Louisville continued throughout the summer of 2020.

Aprile Hearn is one protester, an activist and now an author. She turned her experience, pain and racial trauma into a book, “Ain’t No Justice In This Town.” Hearn will hold a book release event on March 1 at the Roots 101 Museum in Louisville at 6 p.m.

She joined Spectrum News 1 to explain how her book came together, the questions she receives on protests in Louisville and her healing journey. The book is her pain to purpose. Watch her full segment in the video.
