In the Seaview community of Rancho Palos Verdes, 105 homes faced power outages beginning Monday at 7 p.m. varying from 24 hours, one to three weeks, or indefinitely.

The ongoing land movement in the area, estimated by the City of Rancho Palos Verdes to be moving at a rate of about five feet per month, is leading residents to lose needed utility services.

On Sunday, 140 homes in the Portuguese Bend community had their power cut permanently because of safety risks in the area, according to SoCal Edison.

Now, residents are turning to back up generators, solar energy and more to stay in their homes.
